Tomita, Amy (Yamamoto) March 30, 1923 – August 28, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Amy Tomita on August 28, 2017, at the age of 94. Born in Vancouver, she was the wife of the late Reverend George Tomita for 67+ years until his death in January 2017. She was the eldest daughter of Sanzo Yamamoto and Tsuka Hoshizaki. She is survived by her children Rodney (Ruxandra Vlad), Laurie (Gerald Potter), Pam (Alan Marjerrison), and Percy (Wendy); grandchildren Glen (Kerri Fenoff), Sara (Dylan White), David (Teresa Wong) and Christopher; and five great-grandchildren. Sister to the late Kaname Yamamoto and the late Betty Ikegami. Amy will also be greatly missed by her brother-in-law Frank Tomita (Lorraine Suga), nephew Todd Tomita (Suzanne Scott) and nieces Judy Ikegami, Trina Tomita (Bill Landry) and Lynn Tomita (Ian Kerr) and her many friends. An avid gardener, Amy loved flowers, birds and being outdoors. Amy supported George throughout his ministry. She will be remembered for her cooking for seniors luncheons, her role in prayer and Bible study groups and working as a volunteer in the church kitchen. She was a founding member of the Meals on Wheels program in Cornwall, Ontario. The family will receive relatives and friends at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd., Orléans, Ontario on Thursday, August 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, September 1, at St. Andrew’s United Church, 2557 Old Montreal Road, Cumberland, Ontario, from 2 to 3 p.m. immediately before the funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial at Dale Cemetery, Cumberland, after the service. Reception to follow.
